Facebook on Film

The social networking phenomenon known as Facebook is now being transported from your computer screens to the big screen.
Aaron Sorkin, creator of 'The West Wing', has just inked a deal with Sony to write a film about how Facebook was birthed.[hmmm..i guess]
Mark Zuckerberg, pictured on the left, launched FB in 2004, while he was a student at Harvard. Today the site has over 90 million active members-[impressive].

Ummm..i could think of a lot better things to make a movie about, but hey I'm sure someone will be interested in this epic tale. Clearly I am not. Don't get me wrong, Facebook is/was the truth--[before all the useless apps], I was addicted to it while I was in school. But I'm more fond of the 'Space' -these days

Thoughts on this?

Barack Obama has a Dream

Photobucket

Tonight is the final night of the 2008 Democratic National Convention, and the night when the 'Chosen One' Barack Obama officially accepts his nomination.
Of course this is a beyond historic occasion since Obama is the first African American nominee running for the presidency, but this is also the anniversary of the 'I Have a Dream' speech. 45 years ago today, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous speech and changed the nation with his powerful words.
Barack Obama is aiming to do the same thing tonight, deliver a strong message, and continue to drive home his vision of hope and change.

I'm sure everyone, regardless of who they are voting for, is looking forward to watching history unfold tonight.

Solange: Champagne Chronik Nightcap

I never was a fan [[or a stan]] of her or her sister, but I must say I am definitely digging Solange's re-entry on the scene--[some could call it a comeback of sorts]

I like the direction and the sound she's presenting this time around. I can see she's really making her mark in the industry and establishing herself as an individual, and a talented artist,
and not just the little sister of -------

I've been listening to several songs from the album over the past few weeks, and an iPod favorite of mine is: 'ChampagneChronikNightcap'-[of course I would like this].
The song features Hip-Hops golden child, Lil-Wayne, and talks about some late night relaxing activities. Take a listen:

Her latest album,'Sol-Angel and the Hadley Street Dreams' dropped on Tuesday [8/26]. Click HERE to purchase.

Also this clip of her getting feisty with a news anchor is good for a few chuckles

So pick your poison, and partake in sipping some after work libations today. Click HERE for the list of participants

Center City Sips was like a sport for me & my compadres last summer.Seeing how many bars we could visit [[and stumble out of]] in that 2 hour span was quite an event.
But just because CC Sips is over, doesn't mean your after work drinking is! Plenty of new fall specials will be available at almost all of the area restaurants and bars.

Enjoy your Hump Day. Cheers!

Sooo I've said all that to say.. regular blogging will resume after I've settled in from the holidays.

Not another one! The 'ShoGun of Harlem' Julius Carry a.k.a 'Sho'Nuff', has passed away. He died on August 19th, but details of his death have yet to be revealed.-[[imdb]]
He is (in)famously known for his role in the 80's 'classic' The Last Dragon,a movie that I have personally watched and quoted a zillion times. The hair, his wardrobe, his way with words , definitely made him a favorite character alongside Bruce Leroy. SMH: New Jack City.. The Remix

Photobucket
So the word is that the classic 90's masterpiece known as New Jack City, is getting a sequel. Exciting right?..NO!...It wont include any of the original actors, and is going to be a straight to DVD release. Naturally the creator of the original New Jack City, Barry Michael Cooper, is not pleased with this.

Cooper says:
its almost like doing the Godfather II with the cast of '70s sitcom Barney Miller. It's a stinker. But it is what it is. I just had to speak on it. And my novella "The Diary Of Nino Brown" is my umbrella against the wack juice that sequel is going to be spraying."

Soo basically someone thought it would be a great idea to ruin an awesome movie, not include any of the original actors, and then make it a straight to DVD production?! ..Sounds like a hit to me-[[sarcasm]]
Add this to the list of useless sequels, that won't be watched...

Sole 4 Real: Edible Footwear

Networking 101: The Business Card

No matter if you are a seasoned professional at the top of your craft, an entry level clock puncher, or even an unpaid intern--You MUST have a business card!
In this day and age when people have a strong desire to stay connected to every single last one of their 'friends' and associates, your business card is like sharing a little piece of your self with the world. So it must be On Point.

Photobucket

A business card is quick & consolidated information on a 2x3.5’’ piece of paper. It should hold all of your vital contact info. Please omit irrelevant items like your D.O.B., your Facebook Url and every single job title you have held

A Few Tips:

*Keep the card simple, yet catchy enough to be noticed

*Include a brief one-liner about what it is you do [[or aspire to do]]

*Make sure when you give yours out, that you receive one back

*Never leave home without them!—you never know who may unexpectedly meet

And if your budget is low or on 'E' VistaPrint is always a great way to get started.

Sole 4 Real: Olympics 2k8

Nike naturally has to put its ‘Soleful’ spin on the Olympics, and has unloaded a ton of footwear onto the market in honor of the Games. I will highlight some of the pairs both past and present that have caught my eye.
While these dunks[[Quilted Dunk High]] have kept people buzzing over the last few months, some love them, some hate them—[[they’re colorful & bold—I love them]]

I was interested in what else Nike had to offer.

BMX Nike Dunk: China Edition

PhotobucketPhotobucket
The Nike Dunk Gyziro=[[wheel in Greek]], was created for the Olympic BMX team. The 2008 Games are the first time that BMX racing is being included. The shoe features a grooved sole, which will make it easier for the bikers to pedal. So we have a high performance shoe that is also nice to look at. Well done Nike.

Just So You Know

First Stop: Philly

Philly, Philly, the city of Brotherly Love, row homes, cheese steaks, and mediocre sports teams
[[GO BOSTON!!]]--[I was born and raised in MA]
This city houses my alma mater –Temple University, and has been my residence for several years now.

Living in the 5th largest city in the U.S, has taught me a thing or two about the city life, and I have encountered some very interesting and memorable characters over my time spent here. So I figure its only right to make Philadelphia my 1st feature city, and uncover some of the people, places and things that are keeping this metropolis booming.

I Have Arrived: FINALLY!!

'Allow me to introduce myself'!

I am thoroughly entertained on a daily basis by the tons of blogs, forums, websites, etc.. that I read. Since I consider myself to be a young, ambitious female, I am always interested in surrounding myself with like minded individuals. For over a year I have been toying with the idea of creating a Business & Lifestyle magazine for young 'movers & shakers'. Something to act a resource and networking tool for young people that are interested in advancing in life. Due to a few circumstances it has taken a little longer than I would have liked to get it off the ground, but that still hasn't stopped my desire to create this.
So I figure the best way is to just jump right in and get my feet wet by entering the 'blog-o-sphere', and the sky is the limit from there.

More About the Blog:
'Mind Your Business Magazine' is designed to be a resource for the young & savvy individual that is creating their own path in both business and life. It will not only feature articles on business, finance, and networking resources , but will also cover the latest fashion trends, entertainment news, education, politics, and more. This blog is a resource for all things business, entertainment and anything that effects the lives of our 20-34 year old demographic . Our goal is to Educate. Inspire. Entertain.

I will focus on a different city/state each month or so, and highlight the people, places and things that would be of interest to my projected audience.

This is a little work in progress for me, that I hope and intend will grow into something greater.

Hope you enjoy.
