Diddy Giving Out Free Cab Rides on New Years Eve

Rap impresario and vodka pitchman Sean (Diddy) Combs wants New Yorkers to party on New Year's Eve, so he's offering to pay for the cab-fare to help tipsy revelers get home safe.

The hip-hop honcho and Ciroc premium vodka will announce Tuesday they are teaming up with the city Taxi & Limousine Commission to give away thousands of free cab rides to ring in 2009.

"New York is the world's most iconic New Year's Eve city, so let's lead by example and show everyone that a sophisticated holiday celebration doesn't just end when the ball drops, but when everyone gets home safely," Combs said.

Thousands of $15 debit cards that can be redeemed for single taxi rides will be handed out by Ciroc street teams in Times Square and in Chelsea beginning at 11 p.m. Wednesday night.

The cards will be doled out until 3 a.m. New Year's Day, or until the supply runs out.

2008 Rewind: Best Film

One Word Review for this film:

Awesome!

I will admit I was not interested in the least in seeing The Dark Knight, and I refused to buy into all the Hollywood hype around it, but I reluctantly went to see it..and wow was I wrong..

Heath Ledger-[R.I.P] played the hell out of the Joker-he really did an amazing job..It really was a great movie. If you haven't seen it, shame on you. Go buy it, download it, something.

But it is something you must experience before the year is over.

Artists such as Beanie Sigel, Freeway, and others will unite in an effort to show local music fans their commitment to working together, despite past beefs.

"ACG's (All Conditions Gear) are the official hood boots and I support what they do in the community," Sigel said in a statement. "I had an idea to put everyone together in one building and on one stage to start a movement here in Philly and promote unity."

In addition to more established acts, it will also feature performances from rising local talent, Reed Dollas, Joey Jihad, and E-Ness, to help give them some shine.

"I want to concentrate on the artist now, as I push my own label here in Philly," Sigel explained. "I want State Property Records to be the vehicle to put them on, so they don't have to go to New York."
